Pan-fried Salt and Pepper Tofu

Deep-fried Salt and Pepper Tofu is commonly found in Chinese restaurants. However, we can cook a healthier version yet equally delicious by simply using a few more minutes.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Finely chop the shallots, garlic, red bird chilies and green onion. Dice the firm tofu.

Step 2
Bring a pot of water to boil. Add salt, firm tofu and cook for 3-4 minutes. Drain and pat dry with kitchen paper.

Step 3
Coat the firm tofu with corn starch.

Step 4
In a pan, add some oil on medium high heat. Add tofu and sear until golden brown. Set aside.

Step 5
In the same pan, add some oil on medium heat. Add shallots, garlic and red bird chilies. Stir-fry until fragrant.

Step 6
Add tofu, pepper salt and mix well. Add green onion and mix well. Ready to serve.
