Apart from cottage pie, fish and chips is another classic English dish. This recipe teaches you how to make the beer batter and an easy way to make crispy hasselback potato!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Hold a potato with a wooden spoon and cut into slices but left joined at the bottom. Place on a baking tray.

Step 2
Spread the butter on the potatoes, sprinkle with sea salt and blackpepper,bake it for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 3
Prepare the tartar sauce. Mix together the mayonnaise, pickled cucumber, red onion, capers, sugar and parsley.

Step 4
Prepare the beer batter. Whisk together the sea salt, black pepper, 125g all-purpose flour, egg yolks, beer and set aside.

Step 5
Sprinkle sea salt and black pepper on the fish fillets. Coat with the remaining flour and dip in the beer batter.

Step 6
In a pot, add enough oil for frying on a high heat. Deep fry the the fish fillets for 4 minutes until golden brown. Drain and set aside.

Step 7
Place the potatoes, fish fillets and lemon wedge on the plate. Serve with the Tartar sauce.
