Sweet and Sour Egg Bean Curd

Sweet and sour pork is a famous dish in Cantonese cuisine. Switch this to a vegetarian dish, you can just change the pork to egg bean curd. Sear the egg bean curd until golden brown and crispy, coated with the sweet and sour sauce, plus the bell pepper and pineapple, this is a fresh and mouth watery dish.

Step 1
Remove the seeds and cut the red and green bell pepper into pieces. Cut the onion into pieces.

Step 2
Drain off the liquid and cut the pineapple into pieces.

Step 3
Mix together the all-purpose flour, salt and white pepper.

Step 4
Cut the egg bean curd into thick slices. Dip with egg wash and coated with flour mixture.

Step 5
In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, sugar, white vinegar and corn starch.

Step 6
In a pot, add enough oil on a high heat. Fry the egg bean curd until golden brown. Drain and set aside.

Step 7
In a pan, add some oil and sauté the onion, bell pepper until fragrant. Add the sweet and sour sauce and bring it to simmer.

Step 8
Add the fried egg bean curd, pineapple and gently toss until the bean curd coated with the sauce. Ready to serve.
